CROW (Corvus corone L.)

The Crow has the head, the crop, the edge of wings and tail of mat black colour and the rest of the body of grey colour. The Griva Crow is smoller than the grey crow.

The sowing Crow has the plumage entire black with a metalic violet reflexive. Both species are sedentary in Romania and you may find them on a grand area, especially in the plain zones, the Danube meadow, and the Danube Delta.

They eat the eggs and little birds chicks, seeds, fruits, cereals, etc.. Because of their attack to birds chicks and eggs,or even the little rabbits, the crows are very injurions for the hunting species effectives. On the agricultural fields, where the sowing crows are sitting in folk, there is nothing left unexamined and the pheasant, partridge, quail and rabbit nests are have no chance. Becaouse of the damages that they cause, they are very injurions for the Cinegetic Fond.

The hunting season is open all the time of the year , with lisa gun and 2,5 - 3,00 mm small shots. There are no restrictions ways of hunting.

The most efficient method, but not the agreeable to the hunters, is to destroy the eggs or the nests before the chichs are able to fly.

Another efficient method to get close to the crows is to shoot 2-3 of them and let them in a place where can be seen by the other crows. Because of the mutual aid spirit ( a specie's characteristic ) all the rest will come to help their "sisters", croaking very loud.
