The cinegetic traditions of the Romanian people and the care for the cinegetic fauna made possible the preservation of a diversified and extremely valuable cinegetic fund. Romania is the home of the greatest European population of big carnivores (bears - more than 4700, wolves - more than 2500, lynxes - more than 1800). The populations of chamois, roedeer, red deer and wild boar are also notable and, what is more important, all these populations are living in the wild, without any stimulation (hormonal or by nutrition) of trophies' quality. The exceptional value of the trophies acquired in Romania is acknowledged by the nearly 2,500 gold medals granted during the international exhibitions and this taking not into consideration those who deserve the gold medal but were not presented and the several tens of thousands of silver and bronze medals. It is important to mention that Romania acquired the world records for chamois, bear and wolf trophies.
